Padres vs Mets 6/6/09 Make up game

I think we were all getting tired and injured!! This game wasn't so pretty! We lost 21-6.....
It had been a long night and two long games. Maybe double-headers is not for the Padres, but with all of the rain we had to get it in somehow.

Pitching this game was Bryce Collier starting off, then Gunnar Pfeffer and Caleb Rediker finishing out.

I didn't take any pictures this game due to the lighting and all of those pesty bugs flying around!

2 more to go to end the season out!!!

Padres vs Mets 6/6/09 Game 1

Winding down the season!!! Game 1 of our double-header against the Mets was pretty exciting. The Padres edged by the Mets 8-7 in an extra inning!! Great effort by everyone tonight. Austin Garrett and Mickey Martin both almost hit one over the fence tonight! Just a little bit more and we would have been going crazy!

Pitching this game was Alec Harris and Bryce Collier the last inning

Here are a few pictures from tonight:

Padres vs. Coopertown 6/4/09

What a bad night for a game? The weather was crazy, just enough rain to make things messy, slippery and just plain miserable to be in!!! We didn't have much luck with the score of the game, losing 10-1. But there were a few highlights to talk about from the game tonight.
Caleb stayed hot with the bats tonight and did some good scooping and stretching over at 1st to get some outs. Kristopher made a good play throwing someone out at 1st from his 3rd base position tonight. Bryce made a couple of good snags and throws at shortstop tonight. Alec continued to be a good catcher tonight. Austin Johnson, Garrett Johnson, Clayton Forsythe, Chase Jenkins and Jarred Baxter did a good job in the out getting the ball back in to the infield fast. The games are winding down and we are down to our last 4 games of the season. Let's make the most of them and have fun at the same time.

Mickey Martin did a great job on the mound tonight! You were doing what you were supposed to do, pitch strikes. It was just a messy night for defense all the way around.

We have missed Gunnar the last 2 games, I hope he has had a great time at camp this week!

I don't have any pictures tonight because of the rain, but I want everyone to remember the smile on Jarred's face when he hit that ball tonight! That was worth a million $$$ to me! We are so happy and proud of you...now you have 4 more games to keep it going!

Parent comment from Mets 5/18/09 game

Kim J. said...
Padres vs. Mets – Mon. 5/18 – Way to comeback guys! We didn’t win, but it was an exciting game at the end. We had those Mets wondering what the heck is going on. The next day Brandon Waller told Austin J. “We were getting worried that ya’ll were going to beat us”. I know if we had a little more time we would have beat those Mets. I would just like to see a little more hustle on and off the field. That may save us a little time and maybe the time won’t run out. Let’s do what we did at the end of the Mets game at the beginning of our next game. Thanks to Carla for taking all those pictures. Go PADRES!!! Kim J

Padres vs. Yankees 6/1/09

Can you say the bats were smoking tonight? We had 3 hit over the fence tonight against one of the best pictures in the league, Justin Wood. Bryce hit his 1st homerun of the year with Mickey on base. Then Caleb knocked out another one for his 2nd HR of the season. And last but not least, Alec Harris hit his 1st HR of the season tonight!!! Way to go boys!!

Also, Mickey Martin was a great lead off batter again tonight! He went 3 for 3 and didn't stop there. If he was hit in by someone he was stealing his way around the bases for a score!

Pitching tonight was Bryce Collier, Caleb Rediker and Alec Harris. Tonight was Caleb's first appearance on the mound and he did a great job!!

Pictures of Caleb pitching tonight is about all I have for tonight...now that I have cleared my camera off, I can get more pictures at the next game.

Padres vs Mets 5/30/09

Another tight one again tonight vs the Mets, but we still came up short 6-4. We only have 2 more chances to edge by them. Let's get those bats going!!

Pitchers tonight were Bryce Collier and Alec Harris

Here are a few pictures from the game:

Padres vs Pleasant View 16 5/28//09

We didn't have much luck tonight!!! Lost 9-3 to the Mad Dawgs. We started to come alive a little on the last inning, but it was too late. These outside of the park games are just practice games to keep us alive for the league games. Garrett Johnson started a new position tonight at 3rd base.

Pitching tonight from Bryce Collier and Mickey Martin

Not many pictures turned out tonight, but here are a few.

Padres vs Lakewood 5/26/09

Homerun Caleb Rediker!!! Everyone was hitting and scoring on this game! We beat Lakewood a big 17-1 !!!! I managed to get some pretty good pictures of base running tonight in between rain showers.

Hot on the mound tonight Gunnar Pfeffer!

Pictures seen here:

The Mets just barely pass by us again tonight. Final score was 11-8. Keep pushing and we will beat them.

Great pitching tonight from Alec Harris and Mickey Martin

Padres vs. AC2 5/14/09

That was some of the best frog gigging I have seen in a while!!! Did you hear all of those frogs on the field last night every time the Padres were batting? Geez....I was ready to put a fork in them myself! The Padres stomped those AC frogs 10-1....

Awesome game all the way around tonight! Caleb Rediker stayed hot tonight with 2 doubles, smashing the ball to the outfield!! We had several singles, RBI's and steals(fast Mickey Martin stole every base). Kris Dowlen had some really hard hits tonight, even though he got robbed of one of his singles by a crazy call! I guess that umpire behind the plate had a better view of it 50 yards further away then the umpire right on top of the call!! Sorry...just being a little bitter!

Defensively, everyone was really solid. We didn't have much action in the field thanks to the fantastic pitching from #25 Alec Harris!!! They couldn't even see the ball crossing the plate to hit it! Bryce did a great job catching all of those fast pitches and threw out 3 trying to steal.

Every game you progress more and more at playing as a team! You have probably the best team of coaches in the park...if you will just listen and do what they tell you, it will be amazing how far you will come by the end of the year!

The pictures were not great tonight because of the lighting, but I tried to get some close up shots and pre-game warm-ups. Garrett I hope I have more of you this game! :)

Padres vs. Yankees 5/11/09

Go Padres!!! We had a great in the park win tonight against the Yankees! The final score was 6-5 Padres but that was only because of the last inning. The rest of the game was awesome. You all looked like a different team out there tonight. We finally hit the ball tonight as a team!!! Mickey set the tone with his lead off hit and then everyone else joined in. We had some good hits from several for singles, and Caleb had a great line drive down first base line over the 1st basemans head for a double. Chase and Mickey each had a RBI in the 2nd inning. You might not get on every time, but if you can score a run that is just as good.

Not only was our hitting coming along tonight, but our defense was falling into place too. Austin Poss started off the game with a great catch in center field. There were several thrown out in the infield and Alec mowed someone down trying to steal second with a perfect shot to Mickey. I think I heard Alec say "not in my house, not tonight"!

Bryce pitched an awesome game tonight....he was striking them out left and right! He also threw a couple out at first with some good defense.

We had a scare tonight with Gunnar the last inning. Taking a hard hit to the face with a bad bounce on a really hard hit from Justin Wood. I think he might have a war zone shiner tomorrow to show for it. But he is tough as nails and will be right back in there Thursday night.

We missed Jerred Baxter tonight who was out with strep throat. We hope you get to feeling better soon...

I didn't get as many pictures tonight because of the lighting on the field, but I will get the posted tomorrow night.

Padres @ PV 17 5/7/09

Finally something to get excited about!!! I know you are thinking, what is she talking about, we lost 6-5 tonight.( And I am not talking about being excited because it didn't rain today finally!!!) I saw a team tonight that did not give up on the game! That excites me!! You were down the last inning 6-0 and came back and scored 5 runs. That is the teamwork that I have been saying we needed to get together....never giving up. I actually heard some excitement and cheering in the dugout tonight!!! That is what will you make you a better player, teammate and "team" as the year progresses.

I loved seeing Jerred Baxter stay in the batters box on an inside pitch, (had to grab his heart a minute) but stayed in there for the walk and ended up scoring our 1st run for the night. I liked seeing our outfielders rotating in and out in the field, stopping balls and getting them back to the infield and keeping a positive attitude throughout the game. (Austin Johnson, Garrett Johnson, Clayton Forsyth, Chase Jenkins , Jerred Baxter, and Austin Poss) See how important an outfield position is? I use to love the outfield, I actually refused to play infield....

What we do need to work on is hustle......on the field, off the field, to and from the batters box, down the baseline to the base....everywhere and everyone! If we had a little more hustle, we just might have gotten another inning in before time ran out and won that game!!

As parents, we love to watch you play ball and have fun. Sure we love to see you win, but the most important things are that you are learning the game, having fun and enjoying the sport and each other. So relax a little Padres! Enjoy the game like you did that last at bat tonight, and the winning will happen! Then it will be really fun!!!

Nonetheless, it was a great night (finally after a week of rain), you played a good game and I got some pretty good pictures of all of you tonight. Enjoy the sunshine while it last!!

Great pitching tonight Gunnar and Mickey!!!

Padres vs Mets 4/30/09

We had a close one tonight!!! The Mets had their ace pitcher on the mound and we only fell short 3-1. Alec pictched a really good game tonight, holding them to only 3 runs. Kris did a good job catching, too. If we could just get our bats going, we might have been on top tonight. We only had 2 hits tonight, from Alec and Gunnar. Let's go Padres, we know you are better than that, let's show them what we can do at bat!! Keep working and playing as a team!!! I have posted some pictures from tonights game.... I didn't get everyone batting tonight, but I will get them on Saturday! http://picasaweb.google.com/padres14/PadresVsMets43009?authkey=Gv1sRgCMnP5MSumaCy_gE&feat=email#

Padres vs PV 16 4/27/09

We didn't come out on top tonight, losing to PV 10-1. We will get them the next time....
It is always a great game when Joelton plays PV and tonight wasn't any different. Bryce pitched the whole game and did a great job. Gunnar had an awesome hit up the middle to center field. We had a few errors in the field that allowed them to score several runs. Unfortunately we never quite got our bats going ...... but keep practicing and trying and it will come together. If you practice, get prepared and work on what you are to do at your position and at bat, then the winning will fall into place. Below are a few photos from the game....http://picasaweb.google.com/padres14/PadresVsPV42709?authkey=Gv1sRgCOvb-aHeuJjZWg

Padres @ East Cheatham 4/23/09

Go Padres!!!! You played a good game tonight and came out on top defeating the Cheatham Chargers 9-6. Everyone was batting and running the bases like crazy! Too many great hits to list all of them this game...but some highlights were Caleb, Alec, Austin Poss, Bryce, Chase, Austin Johnson. We had some good pitching tonight from Gunnar, Alec and Bryce! All in all it was a good game for everyone and we have plenty of more games to go. I tried to take pictures of everyone tonight, I am still working on this so be patient. Hopefully I will get more and better pictures in the games to come. I will also have extra batteries on hand the next time too! Enjoy what I have though! Padres vs. Coopertown 10

Rain, rain go away......well we gave it a shot. The whole night just didn't turn out like we wanted it to. We managed to get in 3 innings before the rain started again and ended the game. We never managed to quite get it together, but there is always the next time. Hopefully we will have better weather at our next game and can get our bats and defense all going together.

Padres vs. Lakewood

We won our 1st official game 6-5 vs Lakewood Saturday night. I apologize for not having photos of this game, but I had other team things that I was trying to get taken care of during the game. I will do better on the photos from here on out. I didn't catch everything, but I do remember a few things.....Alec pitched a great game, Mickey played a great game in a couple of different positions. And Garrett was hot at bat! Great job everyone!

Opening Night 4/16/09

It was a great night to open the season against the Yankees. I wasn't able to attend, but I heard it was exciting. It is hard to get into the groove of things when you are just playing an hour, which usually only consist of about 3 innings. But I heard that the Padres started out pretty strong, then we made a few errors and let the Yankees back in the game. That is what this sport is all about, learning from your mistakes and improving on them. So at the end of the season, go back and think about this 1st night and look at how far you will have come together and how much you will improve working as a team. The "game" or partial game ended in a tie, but that is better than starting off with a loss. Great job team and good luck throughout the season!!

Welcome to a new season Padres!!

I am so glad that baseball season is here. Wow, can you believe you are playing 11/12 Baseball now?! I am really looking forward to working with everyone this year and getting to know all of our new players. I have been with some of you 4 or 5 years now. I think with the great coaching staff we have again this year, they will learn and improve as the season is played out. The Ozone will be new to all of us this year, so I guess we will learn together. We have some great sponsors again this year, so you know you will be looking sharp!! Have a great season this year Padres and always keep a good attitude and show sportsmanship on the field.
